The National Reconstruction Authority has authorized the distribution of an additional grant of NPRs 4 billion to build private houses in the earthquake-affected districts. The NRA has given the authorization to the Central Level Program Implementation Unit of the Ministry of Federal Affairs and Local Development to ensure that the requirements of the beneficiaries in the most-affected districts are met.
The NRA places special priority on keeping the grant distribution running in the 14 most-affected and 17 less-affected districts. The NRA has authorized the additional grant to the Ministry of Federal Affairs and Local Development to meet beneficiaries’ requirements.
Earlier, the NRA had given authorization of NPRs 41.8 billion for reconstruction with the funds coming from the following sources:
- Government of Nepal: NPRs 24.7 billion
- Reconstruction Joint Fund: NPRs 5.02 billion
- IDA financing: NPRs 6.1 billion
- JICA: NPRs 2.9 billion, and
- IMF: NPRs 5 billion.
Beneficiaries who have followed the required procedures and guidelines will receive the housing aid on time. The NRA will ensure that there will not be a shortage of funds..
To date, 98 percent of the beneficiaries in 11 of the 14 most-affected districts have received the first installment of housing aid. And, the process of distributing the first installment in the 17 less-affected districts has accelerated.
