Stories from the Field: Laying the Foundation for Greater Resilience

The Stories from the Field: Laying the Foundation for Greater Resilience series offers an insight into the progress achieved on the ground through the eyes of the program’s direct beneficiaries, as well as the stakeholders working on the program’s implementation process.

This brief offers four different stories. The testimonials of: Ayush Baskota, Civil Engineer and the National Society for Earthquake Technology (NSET)'s District Coordinator for Nuwakot District; Ram Krishna Shrestha, a local mason and contractor in the Bidur municipality of Nuwakot District; and Samir BK, a Sub Engineer of NSET. These three individuals share first-hand the progress achieved in the training of local mansons and construction engineers in resilient construction.  The testimonial of Rukmedi Adhikari (from Thansingh, Nuwakot District) offers the thoughts of a mother who lost her home during the 2015 earthquakes, and now is enrolled as a beneficiary in the government’s Housing Reconstruction Program supported by both the Earthquake Housing Reconstruction Project and the Multi-Donor Trust Fund.
